Is Dying Light: The Beast Crossplay? Cross-Platform Status Explained

With Dying Light: The Beast featuring cooperative multiplayer, like the other games in the series, you might be hoping for some crossplay functionality.

Playing co-op in Dying Light: The Beast will be very similar to how it was handled in the past, with all players joining in as the game’s protagonist, Kyle Crane.

Before you all go trying to join each other’s games, here is the answer to whether or not Dying Light: The Beast has crossplay.

Does Dying Light: The Beast Have Crossplay?

No, Dying Light: The Beast does not have crossplay, at least at launch.

If you are trying to play Dying Light: The Beast with your friends, you will need to be playing on the same platform as them. This is undoubtedly disappointing to people who have friends on other platforms that will be playing the game, but it’s simply the way Techland is operating.

Later on in 2025, older generation versions of Dying Light: The Beast will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but we would be pretty shocked if those versions were compatible with the current PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions, so don’t expect cross-generation support either, though there is no official word on that as of this writing.

Will Dying Light: The Beast Ever Get Crossplay?

As of now, there is no telling for sure if Dying Light: The Beast will ever get crossplay.

Past games in the series have never had this feature, but the game’s director, Tymon Smektala, has posted a reply on social media indicating that consideration is being given to it for the future. Not having it at launch is a huge bummer either way.

So, it’s not impossible for the game to get crossplay in the future, but you definitely should not get your hopes up.

So why doesn’t Techland ever put cross-platform functionality in games like Dying Light: The Beast? As of now, we don’t really know. It could simply be that the feature is not a high enough priority for them to consider. We’re not too sure about that answer, though, because they’re always willing to have multiplayer in their games. Not having crossplay in a cooperative game in 2025 doesn’t make much sense, regardless of the reason.
