Techland has started rolling out hotfix 1.2.1, which should address some of the most perplexing bugs in Dying Light: The Beast that are plaguing new players everywhere. In a post on social media, the team revealed that this hotfix specifically targets the day/night cycle bug and the issue that’s causing rain to fall indoors.
The day/night cycle bug is a weird one, but it’s not the first time it has been seen. I was witnessing this first-hand in Dying Light 2: Stay Human weeks before the launch of Dying Light: The Beast.
Dying Light: The Beast Day/Night Bug is Fixed
The day/night bug has been one of the strangest issues hitting Dying Light: The Beast players since launch. It has been rendering the game with a visual daylight effect on a 24/7 scale, which means that even when night falls, it doesn’t look like night.
That means that Volatiles, the game’s big, bad mutants, have been coming out in broad daylight, which they shouldn’t be able to do.
This is one of the issues being eradicated (hopefully) with the 1.2.1 update, which dropped on PC earlier today and will land on consoles soon. In a post on social media, the team at Techland also confirmed:
Once the hotfix will be live on all platforms, the APEX Car Skin will be waiting in the in-game stash for all of you who pre-ordered the game or own it through the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition.
Clips that have been appearing on social media showing Volatiles out in the daytime might have looked funny, but they were indicative of a severe issue that rendered Dying Light: The Beast almost unplayable.
The hotfix was in testing for a few days over the weekend window, so it should be stable when deployed across all platforms.
