Diablo 4 was the best-selling game in June 2023, according to the latest data from Circana, formerly NPD.
Following Diablo 4 in sales were Final Fantasy 16 and Street Fighter 6, both games that were also released in June. The previous top game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fell to fourth. Hogwarts Legacy rounded out the top five.
When it comes to hardware, the PlayStation 5 led the way once again in the United States.
“PlayStation 5 was the best-selling hardware platform in both unit and dollar sales during June 2023,” Circana executive director Mat Piscatella said. “Consumer spending on PlayStation hardware reached its highest June total since 2008, while unit sales were the highest achieved since June 2010.”
On an overall scale, Piscatella said that June 2023 was the second-highest spending month for June with $4.7 billion spent on games, hardware, and accessories. It came just shy of June 2021’s record of $4.8 billion.
For 2023 as a whole, spending in the first half hit $26.6 billion, a 2% increase compared to the same time period last year.
