Riot Games has opted to remove Cypher from all VALORANT game modes today after it was discovered that an old Spycam-related bug had resurfaced. This bizarre bug allows Cypher to effectively weaponize his Spycam gadget, but it’s far from the first time it has appeared in Riot’s first-person hero shooter.
Users took to social media to complain about the bug coming back into play, especially those who main Cypher and are now left without a viable in-game option.
Cypher’s Spycam Bug Appears Again in VALORANT
Riot Games quipped on social media that it was ‘on it’ after fans discovered the return of Cypher’s Spycam bug. In this glitch, players can deploy the Spycam device, drop a weapon into it, and then fire that weapon remotely. I said it’s a bizarre bug.
It was late yesterday that users started spotting the bug:
It’s not exactly rare for Riot Games to disable agents when a bug as critical as this emerges.
For instance, the team removed Neon a few weeks ago because of an NVIDIA settings exploit that allows people to see through her Fast Lane wall, giving them an unfair advantage. Unfortunately, when Neon came back, she arrived hand-in-hand with a few balancing changes that were hit and miss with players.
It’s not yet known if Cypher will return under similar circumstances, or when Riot Games will add him back into the roster, period.
If you’re hurting for something new, perhaps you can give Miks a spin. He’s the latest VALORANT agent, having landed in the game in March 2026, and he brings a tasty new dynamic to the Controller role (spoiler: he can heal allies).
