In a new post, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account announced that a free trial is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on March 28th.
The trial will become available at 8 AM pacific time and end on March 31st at 11:59 PM pacific. Unfortunately, CD Projekt Red did not mention a free trial for PC players.
The Cyberpunk 2077 trial includes 5 hours of playtime for the base game, and it does not require a subscription. Although, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can already try out 5 hours of gameplay.
The devs did not explain exactly why the free trial does not extend to PC fans. While this surely disappoints PC players, Cyberpunk 2077 released a similar free trial in 2022 that also omitted the platform.
This means that there likely won’t be a free trial for PC later on. The 2022 free trial, however, did release as a “next gen” trial in particular, so that omission made a bit more sense. Still, any free trial is a nice gesture for Cyberpunk 2077 fans.
It’s unclear if this week’s free trial is building hype ahead of a new announcement. Cyberpunk 2077’s last major update rolled out in December 2023. However, more details about the sequel are warming up.
Last January, an interview revealed that the Cyberpunk sequel devs are considering multiplayer elements. These would be a natural addition for such a rich universe. Even the Cyberpunk 2077 board game announced last week will feature cooperative gameplay.
Some recent job listings also revealed potential details about the next game, currently known as Orion. The listings mentioned the return of crafting mechanics, seamless gameplay and dialogue, open-world events and more.
