Crytek has laid off a number off staff in both Istanbul, Türkiye, and at its heardquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.
Though not yet publicly announced by the company, Insider Gaming has learned that an entire quality assurance (QA) team based in Istanbul was included in the job cuts. It was also said that some were let go in Frankfurt, with the layoffs impacting mainly the publishing, social media, and QA side of the company.
Though we are still working to confirm the total number of employees who were let go, it’s believed that at least 30 people have lost their jobs. They were told of the layoffs, per sources, at the beginning of September and were described as “unexpected”.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Crytek for comment on the layoffs, seeking clarity on the decision to cut jobs and confirm the number of people let go. As of publication, no response has been received. Should one come, however, it will be added to this story.
