Remedy Entertainment has just provided some new information about Control Resonant’s New Game Plus.
We have yet to hear a proper release date for Control Resonant; however, the developers have confirmed Q2 2026 as the launch window. Before they provide us with an exact release date, the developers are sharing more details about the upcoming title, with the new information focusing on the New Game Plus mode.
Control Resonant New Game Plus Carries Over Everything Except Traversal Abilities
A new blog post by PlayStation goes over the New Game Plus details for Control Resonant. Remedy has explained that players will be able to carry over items such as Aberrant upgrades, health, and combat ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts into their new run. However, they will not be able to bring over traversal abilities, as those are tied to the game’s story.
With New Game Plus, the developers aim to provide players more room to experiment with different builds. Additionally, players will not unlock everything in their first run. Progressing will unlock new talent nodes, which will expand how you can use your abilities and Aberrant attacks together. Players will be able to gain several combat abilities from the same boss.
Control Resonant is “Built to Reward Returning Players”
The New Game Plus blog for Control Resonant also goes over how players can mess around with different builds. The system features Artifacts, which are equippable items that provide passive modifiers affecting survivability, combat performance, exploration, or the resource economy. The first run only allows for three Artifact slots, and a fourth one opens with New Game Plus, bringing more experimentation to the mix.
The developers have also gone over how the game and the world will evolve, with enemies becoming more difficult to handle, encounters changing, and familiar fights taking on “new dimensions”. Players will find that some bosses suddenly have new behaviors, which will change the way you deal with them. New Game Plus will build on this escalation, “reshaping encounters and raising the stakes.”
Lastly, Control Resonant has been “built to reward returning players”, so many players will be exploring the New Game Plus mode. Players will be able to replay World Quests and bounties, and find collectibles they missed. At the same time, there will be different outcomes in certain side stories and conversations.
In other news, Remedy Entertainment’s new CEO has been appointed, and he was previously an EA executive. Additionally, Rockstar is closely involved in the development of Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes.
