Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s launch was off to a brilliant start. Within days of the launch, over 500,000 copies were sold, and the number of copies sold hit 2 million in the first 12 days. According to the latest numbers, we have received a trifecta of ’33’, with Clair Obscur 33 selling 3.3 million copies in 33 days.
Moreover, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s soundtrack is working wonders, too. The original soundtrack, created by Lorien Testard, hit 33 million streams within 3 weeks of launch and debuted at the top of Billboard’s classical album charts. Currently, the soundtrack sits at over 90 million streams.
The game has truly taken the masses by storm, also becoming 2025’s highest-rated game, sitting at the top of Metacritic and OpenCritic. It had already received critical acclaim ahead of launch. Excitingly, even the French President has applauded the Clair Obscur team, claiming it is “one of the best-rated games in history.” Additionally, Sandfall Interactive is teaming up with Story Kitchen to release a movie adaptation.
Recently, the game’s creators addressed DLCs and future expansions, stating that they are prioritising improvements on the current game over new content.
