How to Claim The Capture Point on The Floating Loot Island in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is not the first Fortnite season to feature a Floating Island. The Floating Island was first introduced in Season 6 way back in September 2018, then came back a year later in Season X. But Fortnite went about three and a half years without a Floating Island until early 2023, and the dawn of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. The Floating Island now looks like the Loot Lake Island. During this season, a huge rift appears high above the map at the same time as the fourth storm circle, which appears about 11 minutes into the match. When this happens, you might hear a dramatic sound effect, and you definitely will see a marker with a picture of a rift on it. This tells you that the island is about to appear from the rift. The island has been a great location to visit throughout the whole of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, but in Week 3, you have to visit it in order to complete one of the weekly challenges. This Fortnite Week 3 quest will reward you with a large amount of XP if you claim the capture point on the island. Claiming the Floating Loot Island Capture Point will also reward you with the Mythic Overclocked Pulse Rifle.

Where is The Floating Loot Island in Fortnite

The Floating Loot Island has no fixed location in Fortnite, but it does appear at a fixed time. As mentioned above, the Floating Loot Island rift will appear at the same time as the fourth storm circle. Its location will be marked by an objective marker, and by a thin vertical  trail of smoke stretching up to the sky. Then, after about another minute, the island will appear out of the rift.

How to Claim The Floating Loot Island Capture Point

As soon as the Floating Loot Island rift appears, make your way to it as quickly as possible. If you get to the rift before the island appears, then just wait for it to appear.

Then, once it has appeared, use one of the vertical ziplines to get up to the island itself.

Like every other Capture Point in Fortnite, the Floating Loot Island Capture Point is a large flagpole with a circle around it. Stand within the circle to make the flags rise slowly up the pole. You might need to defend the Capture Point against other players. When the flags reach the top of the pole, you have claimed the Capture Point, and loot will burst out of it. On the Floating Loot Island, this loot includes the Mythic Overclocked Pulse Rifle, one of the best weapons in Fortnite.
