Can You Start a New Game in Dragon’s Dogma 2? – Answered

With Dragon’s Dogma 2 firmly in everyone’s hands, the cult-classic RPG series returns to win over hearts and minds, right? There’s some discourse surrounding the game, specifically about the game’s microtransactions, of which there are more than $40 worth right now, and the the ability to start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Can you?

Can You Start a New Character in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Unfortunately, as of this writing, you cannot start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2 without messing with the game files. Taking the disappointment one step further, we do not recommend messing with the files whatsoever to delete your save. Why? Because the game includes Denuvo anti-tampering software, which, for some players, is causing all sorts of headaches.

I haven’t dealt with this issue, as I’ve yet to try deleting a save file, but some players report that Denuvo will block your Steam account for 24 hours if it detects file tampering. In this case, they consider deleting your save as file tampering. You’re locked out entirely!

Should You Start a New Save in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

While it’s nice to have the option to start a second save file, especially considering this is a modern RPG, it’s not totally necessary in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can change your vocation by visiting a Vocation Guild in Vernworth or alter your character by speaking with the Barberie in the city. It does cost a tidy sum of gold, but it’s better than flagging your account with Denuvo and losing access to the game altogether!
