Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Officially Rated M by ESRB

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s has its official rating from the ESRB in the United States, and, to no one’s surprise, the game once again as an “M for Mature” rating.

As said, it’s not surprising that the game received a “Mature” rating as all of the recent games have been given that distinction. The last mainline Call of Duty to not get an M rating was Call of Duty 3 in 2006.

In addition to the rating itself, the rating’s summary gives a bit of insight into why the game is viewed by the ESRB the way it is. While most of what’s said is obvious, such as killing enemies with a variety of weapons as well as the various execution moves players can pull off, there is a small line that gives insight into the game’s story.

The game’s campaign will see players “try to prevent a tech titan from gaining power” and some of the enemies will be “robots [and] creatures”

The “worldwide reveal” of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will happen at Gamescom opening night live on August 19.

What do you think of Black Ops 7 getting an M rating again from the ESRB? What about the small new story detail? Let us know down below, and join the discussion in the official Insider Gaming forums.
