A new post from one of the writers on Assassin’s Creed Shadows reveals that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in active development.
Ubisoft announced a major restructuring earlier this year, which led to the cancellation of several games, including the Prince of Persia remake. However, Insider Gaming exclusively revealed that the team behind Beyond Good & Evil 2 remained intact. The game’s director later reaffirmed that it is still in development, but we haven’t received much information since then until recently.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Writer Has Been Working on Beyond Good & Evil 2 for the Past Few Months
Rik Godwin, the Lead Writer and Associate Narrative Director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, is currently working on several franchises, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ghost Recon, and Beyond Good & Evil. His recent post on BlueSky confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still actively in development.
Godwin revealed that he has been serving as a support/consultant on one of Ubisoft’s longest-in-development games, Beyond Good & Evil 2, over the past few months. Godwin also joked that he checked whether he was allowed to share this information and got the green light.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a game that was first announced in 2008 and reintroduced at E3 in 2017. Since then, players have seen little of it beyond a cinematic trailer and some gameplay that came out in 2018. According to the game’s website, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an action-adventure RPG that can be played solo or in co-op mode with friends.

In the game, take on enemies on planets or in space, at massively different scales: “from close-quarters combat inside a hidden temple to the uncharted edges of the system.” The game serves as a prequel, and Ubisoft has been developing it in collaboration with a community of fans through what they refer to as the Space Monkey Program.
