The extraction shooter genre has been coming up in recent years, and in the last few months, we’ve seen it evolve immeasurably. There’s a staggering and diverse array of extraction games out there right now, from fantasy titles to hardcore, first-person shooters. Which among them can be categorized as the best extraction shooters in 2026?
If you’ve been playing a particular extraction shooter game and wondering what else is on the market, look no further than this list. I’ve got every extraction shooter you need to play in 2026, and this is coming straight from a die-hard fan of the genre.
What Are The Top Extraction Games Out There?
Many games fill the extraction space, but these are the ones that are worth your time, effort, and money.
5. Incursion: Red River

| Genre | Extraction Shooter |
| Developer | Games of Tomorrow |
| Release Date | April 10, 2024 (Early Access) |
| Platforms | PC |
| Best For | PvE-focused combat in dense jungles |
Incursion: Red River is a smaller, more humble extraction game, but it has immense chops that are well worth an inspection. In Incursion, players are cast into a war-torn Vietnam and tasked with exploring maps bursting with enemies and opportunities. They’ll build a hideout, collect resources, fight their hearts out, and (hopefully) extract again to claim their riches.
It’s a PvE-exclusive game with cooperative mechanics, and in February 2026, it underwent an overhaul with a 1.3 update that introduced an entirely new map, amongst other things.
Incursion represents a gorgeous, immersive game, but because of the lack of any PvP, it has been forgotten by some of the genre’s more hardcore fans. It’s definitely worth your time, and it’s one of the best extraction games in 2026. If you’re looking for a developer who puts the community first, you won’t find anyone better than this.
4. Arena Breakout: Infinite

Arena Breakout: Infinite is a tried and tested extraction shooter from MoreFun Studios that has been compared to Escape from Tarkov, the genre leader, numerous times. It’s a realistic enough shooter with a great atmosphere, multiple maps, and various ways to play, and it’s getting a PvE-exclusive mode in 2026, which will help it serve an entirely new audience.
For those not in the know, Arena Breakout has been around for years as a mobile game, but Infinite is the PC version of the game that blew the universe wide open when it dropped in 2025. It’s one of the best Tarkov competitors, offering boss fights, a looter-shooter gameplay loop, and the high-stakes operating model you’ve come to love in extraction shooter games.
Oh, and it’s free to play.
| Genre | Extraction Shooter |
| Developer | MoreFun Studios |
| Release Date | September 15, 2025 |
| Platforms | PC (and a mobile version) |
| Best For | High-stakes PvP in a realistic environment |
3. Marathon

Marathon is the newest extraction shooter to make this list, emerging from under Bungie’s umbrella in March 2026. It’s an extraction title built on a universe that stretches back more than thirty years, touching on Bungie’s oldest games of the same name.
In Marathon, players contend with a colorful, sci-fi universe teeming with AI and human threats, assuming control of cybernetic ‘Runners’ and using a class-based system to load in, raid up, and extract again without succumbing to the many dangers of Marathon’s world.
It’s exciting and fresh, and although it has struggled a bit out of the gate, it still has potential to evolve as 2026 unravels.
| Genre | Extraction Shooter |
| Developer | Bungie |
| Release Date | March 5, 2026 |
| Platforms | PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX |
| Best For | Incredible art style in an evolving extraction world |
2. ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders is like Escape from Tarkov in that it’s an extraction shooter, but most of the similarities end there. In ARC Raiders, players are forced to contend with a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by an alien robot race, fighting with other scavengers and attempting to secure riches and fame.
Like Escape from Tarkov, ARC Raiders is a challenging PvPvE shooter in which a single fight could spell ruin, but it’s a third-person title that’s available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It was one of 2025’s most energetic extraction shooters and an easy contender to Tarkov, and it’s already evolving massively through 2026.
If you’re sleeping on ARC Raiders and you call yourself an extraction shooter fan, you might not be as big a fan as you think, even if the game isn’t hitting the mark as much as it used to by July 2026.
| Genre | Extraction Adventure |
| Developer | Embark Studios |
| Release Date | October 31, 2025 |
| Platforms | PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX |
| Best For | Emergent third-person gameplay in a post-apocalyptic world |
1. Escape from Tarkov

Why play something like Escape from Tarkov when you can just play Escape from Tarkov?
Escape from Tarkov is arguably the best extraction shooter you can play, for the simple reason that it has dominated the genre for almost a decade. It’s the spearhead first-person title in the space, and it’s the product that so many have tried to mimic over the years.
Escape from Tarkov is not welcoming or user-friendly (it’s getting better, though), but it offers an addictive and hardcore gameplay loop that keeps players engaged for thousands of hours. It’s challenging, but once you understand the fundamentals, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more satisfying shooter in today’s market.
It’s available exclusively on PC but should be coming to consoles one day.
| Genre | Extraction Shooter |
| Developer | Battlestate Games |
| Release Date | November 15, 2025 (full release) |
| Platforms | PC |
| Best For | The challenging, realistic extraction loop that started it all |
