Best Games Like Dying Light: The Beast To Play When You’re Finished

Dying Light: The Beast offers players a 35 to 50-hour adventure, and when it’s done, you might want to move on to something similar. Fortunately, you’ve found yourself in a niche that’s densely populated with comparable games, many of which are drastically accessible and satisfyingly gory.

Below, I’ve outlined the best games like Dying Light: The Beast that you can pick up right now to keep fuelling your zombie-slashing escapades once you’ve completed Techland’s latest open-world epic.

Top Games like Dying Light: The Beast

Here are my top picks for games similar to Dying Light: The Beast that you can lose yourself in.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human (2022)

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is the closest thing you’ll find to Dying Light: The Beast, given that The Beast was originally planned as a DLC for the former title. It’s a massive, open-world game with a never-ending stream of content, due to its live-service nature. It’s set deep in the apocalypse and has all the trappings of a Dying Light game you’ve come to know and love with The Beast.

Dying Light (2015)

It might seem cheap to list another Dying Light game on here, but nothing beats the original. In 2015, Techland released Dying Light, turning heads worldwide with its high-octane, brutal adventure that fused intense combat with fast-paced parkour mechanics. It’s a must-play game, especially if you want more Kyle Crane after Dying Light: The Beast.

Dead Island 2 (2023)

Dead Island 2 was finally released in 2023 after a decade of development, bringing players everywhere one of the best open-world zombie games in recent years. It blew the minds of folks worldwide with some of the goriest zombie-slaying action around, and the semi-open-world map set around Los Angeles is equal parts gorgeous and intriguing to explore.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst (2016)

If playing Dying Light: The Beast has given you a taste for first-person parkour, you’ll find nothing better to compare that to than in Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst. It’s light on the combat but heavy on the agility, and in terms of freerunning and acrobatic exploration mechanics, you’ll find no better game on the market.

Fallout 4 (2015)

If the apocalypse is what you’re after, you’ll find it in Fallout 4. Dying Light: The Beast is rooted in the end of the world, and so is Fallout 4, and while there aren’t any zombies to slay (technically), you’ll find all manner of mutated beasties in Fallout 4 to take care of. It’s a first-person title with a massive open world to explore, so it’s fairly similar to the Dying Light titles.

The Last of Us (2013)

The Last of Us is a good pick for games like Dying Light: The Beast, even if it has a completely different operating model. In Dying Light: The Beast, you’re exploring a ruined world overtaken by nature, in some ways. In The Last of Us, the world is very similar, reclaimed by nature after an infection wiped out most of the planet’s population.

State of Decay (2013)

State of Decay (and State of Decay 2) are great games for those falling in love with zombie-related titles. Since 2013, State of Decay has offered players large open-world environments, base-building mechanics, a looter-shooter style of gameplay, and permadeath features that have you sitting on the edge of your seat during every fight.

Metro: Exodus (2019)

Metro: Exodus is the latest major release in the acclaimed, post-apocalyptic series, and while you don’t fight zombies in this game, you are dealing with all the dangers that come with the end of the world. That includes mutants, bands of raiders, pockets of radiation, and other environmental hazards. It’s one of the best games like Dying Light: The Beast I can recommend.
