Friendslop has exploded in the last couple of years, with everyone realizing the immense potential of them. As such, the market is as saturated as ever, which is why I’ve gone through and picked out the best of the best to get you laughing instead of languishing ASAP.
Every few years, a new phenomenon takes over. The battle royale praise was (and still is) going strong, the same with extraction shooters. But in the indie market, a flurry of co-op multiplayer titles have been fired out in recent years, coining a new term: Friendslop.
What is a Friendslop Game?
The Friendslop genre focuses on low-budget indie games that generally look unpolished, but prioritize gameplay, particularly with multiple people in co-op.
One of the reasons you’re seeing so many Friendslop games labeled with the unaffectionate term is because they fit the criteria of the craze:
- They look like they’re in alpha testing.
- They look cheap—and usually are, making them very affordable.
- They can usually host between one to six players—with co-op encouraged.
- Proximity chat and voice chat are advised, and sometimes compulsory.
- They’re made and marketed with viral and streaming potential.
Again, not everyone likes the term Friendslop, considering it derogatory, whereas many embrace it. These games can generally be played solo, but the intention is for co-op multiplayer.
Best Friendslop Games to Play With Friends
Lethal Company
It’s estimated that Lethal Company has sold anywhere between 10 and 15 million copies; if you need to know why everyone is chasing the Friendslop drama, look no further than Lethal Company.
Chances are you’ve already played it by now, but Lethal Company’s visual aesthetic, chaotic co-op gameplay, and great concept make it very appealing. Get in, loot everything, avoid deadly monsters. Leave.
Sounds easy, right?
PEAK
PEAK reached its peak very quickly, causing developers Aggro Crab and Landfall to pivot and make much more content for it. You know you’ve got a winner when your audience is begging for cannibalism to be added.
The premise is simple: With the help of your team, you need to ascend a dangerous mountain in a variety of locales. Use all the tools at your disposal, try not to kill each other, and you might just ascend to the highest point.
REPO
REPO was 2025’s best-selling game.
Gameplay-wise, it has a lot in common with Lethal Company, but REPO‘s main characters are so visually distinct and hilarious to look at that the game was always going to be a winner.
It reached an all-time peak of nearly 300K on Steam, and tens of thousands of players are still playing it deep into 2026.
RV There Yet?
Once the timeline starts to progress, you start to see the similarities in many of these Friendslop games, but all they need is one major tweak, and everyone wants to play it.
RV There Yet? borrows slightly from PEAK, but instead, asks you to guide a rickety, unstable RV to the top of its destination. Pulley systems, giant holes in the Earth, and communication calamity all beckon in RV There Yet?
YAPYAP
Use your microphone to cast spells, and use any number of magical items to fly and fudge up the environment around you in YAPYAP.
Destruction is the name of the game, and think of yourself like a Hogwarts student, only you’re here for witchcraft, and absolutely mayhem is the name of the game.
Super Battle Golf
Golf is my cup of tea, but it’s not everyone’s.
If the thought of trudging around a large field for four-plus hours, whacking a small ball with a variety of clubs, doesn’t sound fun, then why not sit in the comfort of your gaming chair and decimate the ball around cities, forests, obstacle courses, all the while trying to avoid being blown to smithereens by your inferior friend.
Super Battle Golf is one you should add to your list because…FOOOORRREEEEE!!!!
Content Warning
Landfall hasn’t just had success with PEAK; before it was Content Warning.
A 200K-plus peak (no pun intended) was caused by Content Warning arriving at the right time. People weren’t gravitating to Friendslop just yet in 2024, and it was one of the first major games to pursue the dream following Lethal Company.
It has the same spooky atmosphere, and even more horrible monsters trying to pull your limbs off and use you as a dog’s play toy. But instead of avoiding the creatures, you must film them. The juicier the footage, the more followers you get.
The modern day in a nutshell—but at an affordable price!
Meccha Chameleon
2026’s biggest Friendslop success (so far) is comfortably Meccha Chameleon. It’s getting harder and harder to come up with an innovative concept that goes viral.
Yet, Meccha Chameleon not opting for a paint-by-numbers release makes it a work of art.
Slap different colors on your character, apply designs, and blend in with the environment. The concept is concise and easy for anyone to pick up, but mastering this is a whole different kettle of…well, paint.
Phasmophobia
Is it technically a Friendslop game? People are divided on this, but this brings more attention to a great co-op game, so why not throw this in there?
COVID allowed Phasmophbia to flourish, as did the whole games industry, with everyone locked indoors, headsets on, and finding the next big thing. Phasmophobia really set the bar early, forcing players to communicate efficiently and work together to complete their objective.
Phasmophobia is still wildly popular in 2026, I can assure you.
Escape The Backrooms
Escape The Backrooms is a few of these entries rolled into one: From a visual and character outfit perspective, Lethal Company, the monster element: Various games, but the puzzle-solving element is unique to Escape The Backrooms.
It also looks tremendous, and easily has one of the best aesthetics of any Friendslop titles.
Among Us
You can’t have a ‘best Friendslop list’ and not have Among Us on this.
Among Us is a fascinating success story, because while you may know it became a worldwide sensation during COVID, it was released two years prior, and just happened to be picked up by streamers during the time the world shut down.
Gameplay-wise, thematically, and by fun-level factor, Among Us is still a barrel of laughs. The OG Friendslop game has spawned an entire franchise, from games to merchandise to TV.
If you still haven’t played Among Us, there’s no time like the present.
Chained Together
The award for the most infuriating Friendslop game is unquestionably Chained Together—although it’s still tremendous.
You and up to three friends are literally chained together, and have to negotiate jumps, gaps, and a litany of other hazards that will send you plummeting back down, akin to Only Up!
Nearly 100,000 players have played it at any one time on Steam. If you do this: Friendships and relationships on standby.
Dear Passengers
This is a bit of a cheeky entry as Dear Passengers isn’t strictly out at the time of writing.
If you’re into your gaming, particularly upcoming Friendslop titles, then there’s every chance you’ve heard of this already. Its debut trailer went stupidly viral, and the game has already garnered over 2 million wishlists on Steam and counting.
As the world’s worst airline, you’re destined to make the simple lives of plane passengers absolute hell: Destroying planes, being horrible flight attendants, and ruining everything before you even get in the air.
Dear Passengers has the biggest hype I’ve ever seen for an unreleased Friendslop game, and there’s every chance it raises the bar sky-high.
