Beautiful Light, one of the most highly anticipated upcoming extraction shooters, has been delayed by almost a year by the developer, Deep Worlds. In a lengthy post on social media, the team explained exactly why such a protracted delay was necessary, responding directly to dismayed fans who have been waiting for the game to land for a hot minute.
Beautiful Light is a PvPvPvE tactical shooter (yes, you read that right) that focuses on squad-based gameplay, anomalies, and a horror-fuelled vibe, and it has proven to be popular in tests and previews.
Unfortunately, it’s now not going to hit early access until Q3 2027.
Beautiful Light Faces Lengthy Delay
Deep Worlds, the small team working to both develop and publish Beautiful Light, revealed in a post on social media that it has been necessary to push the game’s early access launch window back to Q3 2027. In a comment under the post, they explained that it means ‘between July and September.’
In a statement, the team wrote why the delay was an important one:
The main reason is that the game needs more time. We’ve felt internally that it was still missing some content and polish. GTA VI’s release also plays a part, since it makes that period a tough one to get the proper visibility, but it’s a secondary factor. And since this isn’t the first time we’ve pushed the date back, we wanted to be absolutely sure before announcing it.
Recent feedback from playtests has allowed the team to establish a roadmap of improvements, but it has also opened their eyes to the fact that the game simply isn’t ready for release, even in early access.
Going forward, they’ll make improvements in several areas:
- Balancing for playable anomalies
- Mercenary contract introduction
- More enemy NPCs and better polish for them
- More weapons, sights, and attachments
- A rank and prestige system
- A third map
- More gameplay variety
- Improved audio
Ultimately, Deep Worlds doesn’t want to release Beautiful Light half-baked:
We don’t want to release Early Access in a rough state, and we want enough content and polish. That also gives us time to prepare the following updates without any dry spell in between. That’s why we’re now aiming for Q3 2027.
Monthly playtests will be held, and a larger part of the Beautiful Light community will be invited to enjoy a closed playtest from the 26th to the 28th of December.
