Battlefield 6‘s season four update has arrived, and players are busying themselves getting to grips with the new map, Tsuru Reef. It’s a beast of a thing that’s nothing short of gorgeous, but some have issues with how open it feels compared to other, similar maps.
However, despite the debate within the community, one clear thing is that the season four drop has attracted the attention of plenty of players. In the last day, the player count, on Steam at least, reached a five-month high, and viewership on Twitch hit levels not seen for ages.
Battlefield 6 Soars As New Season Drops
Battlefield has enjoyed a nice spike in sentiment as the game’s fourth season has hit all platforms globally. On social media, creators and fans alike have been sharing their impressions of the new Tsuru Reef map, the naval combat, and the new weapons, and things seem guardedly optimistic right now.
I’ve put a couple of hours into Tsuru Reef and can confirm it’s a stunning map.
On Steam, Battlefield 6’s player count hit 81,745 concurrent users in the last 24 hours, a figure that hasn’t been recorded since midway through February. Battlefield has weathered the typical drop-off that we see in the live-service shooter space, but there’s no denying that things have been working downwards for the game.
On Twitch, the game’s peak viewer count rose to 51,500, representing a tangible improvement on figures seen in recent months. The last comparable peak came in March, with 52,000 concurrent users being logged. That shows how people are interested in seeing what the new season has to offer.
Later in the season, things will undoubtedly evolve as Wake Island, a fan-favorite map, is revisited in Battlefield 6.
