Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally been released in full and it has proceeded to instantly dominate the world of gaming. It had such a build-up leading to its full launch, it was bordering on the insane – we heard tales of bear sex, 200 hours of cutscenes, 17,000 endings, and so much more.
Now that it has been released, it’s flying to the top of every chart it touches. On Steam, it has reached a peak of 383,007 players – and that number is only climbing exponentially as the day pushes ever onwards. On Twitch, it’s the number one game right now, with half a million viewers tuning in to catch a glimpse of the long-awaited action.
It’s Literally Breaking The Internet
It was just a couple of hours ago that Steam had a temporary blip, with hundreds of thousands of gamers logging in to install Baldur’s Gate 3 all at the same time. This was thanks to there being no preload option available with the game, and as so many players kicked off their download of the 122GB file all at the same time, it understandably brought Steam to a crumbling halt – temporarily, at least.
At present, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third most-played game on Steam – it sits just 100,000 players behind Dota 2, which usually floats around the top of the list. It’s unlikely it’ll hit the number one spot, though – that’s secured by CSGO with almost 1 million concurrent players.
Most reviews, even the in-progress ones, are speaking very highly of Baldur’s Gate 3. It has taken twenty years for this long-awaited sequel to be released, and fans are now lapping it up in all its glory.
