Baldur’s Gate 3 Let’s You Act Out Torture

Baldur's Gate 3 Torture

When Baldur’s Gate 3 was given a Mature rating from the ESRB in the United States and Canada, it was expected that the game was going to have heavy moments. What wasn’t known was just the full types of moments within the game. In an update to the game’s rating page on the website, more detail about the game itself and what players will or won’t be able to do have been published. One such action that can be done in Baldur’s Gate 3 is torture.

You read that right. Torture.

While it’s not outright referred to as such, the description of what players can do within the game is basically the word’s definition.

“In one sequence, players make dialogue choices to determine the method of violence when extracting information from a prisoner (e.g., hot poker to the thigh; butt of a spear to the groin; toenail removal),” the rating summary reads.

“[M]ost of these acts occur off-screen, as the prisoner is seen reacting to pain.”

In addition to the acting out of torture, Baldur’s Gate 3 was given the Mature rating for nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and more.

Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on August 3 for PC and September 6 for PlayStation 5. According to developer Larian Studios, there are “over 17,000″ endings in the game.
