According to a new report from ESPN, college football players can now opt-in to EA Sports’ College Football 25 today.
EA Sports has reportedly finalized its likeness plan. So, “up to 85 players per school will initially appear on rosters in the game”. The athletes who choose to opt in will also receive “$600, plus a copy of the game”.
Sean O’Brien, EA Sports’ vice president of business development, told ESPN that “we’ll be the largest program, likely the highest-spending program”.
EA released an official teaser trailer for College Football 25 last week. EA also confirmed that a full reveal is coming in May. This should finally give fans a look at some gameplay.
For now, the live-action teaser for the game did still build some hype, especially after fans waited for so long.
Today’s report adds that “there will also be more than 100 additional NIL opportunities for athletes to work with EA Sports”. This could even include being the game’s cover athlete.
That would be a massive career milestone for a burgeoning star athlete.
WWE 2K24 recently revealed its cover stars last month, where the Deluxe Edition featured Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.
It was the first time in the series that two women were dual cover stars. Many fans applauded this inclusivity, so EA Sports College Football 25 has an opportunity to follow suit.
There are plenty of new athletes that could potentially join the game.
Daryl Holt, EA Sports’ senior vice president, added that “gamers will be allowed to create their own players, but Holt said the game will not allow an opted-out player to be created and inserted into the game”.

How does an athlete opt into the game? I am a collegiate athlete and would like to be apart of it.
If you hear anything on this, please post it here. Thanks
If they can pay athletes they can pay rappers and models so bring back Def Jam!!! They should bring NBA Street back too and SSX which didn’t have real athletes.
