Assassin’s Creed Unity is getting a 60 FPS patch on Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5.
Ubisoft recently announced on a new blog about the future of the franchise that Assassin’s Creed Unity, which was initially released on the PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, will receive a 60 FPS update for current-gen consoles. That update will launch tomorrow, Thursday, March 5, 2026.
“We know some of you have been waiting for it for a long time, so get ready to re‑experience 18th-century Paris and Arno’s fancy parkour moves with more smoothness on consoles! And for our Xbox players out there, we’ve got a little treat, as multiple Assassin’s Creed games will be playable for free for a limited time for Xbox Free Play Days, from April 2nd to 6th! Perfect time to try Unity in that 60 FPS beauty,” the team wrote.
The Future of Assassin’s Creed
Assassin’s Creed is one of the best-selling franchises in the gaming industry. Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was released nearly a year ago, and in its first two months, approximately 3 million copies were sold, with nearly 75% of those sales on consoles.
On March 20, Ubisoft will host a Twitch event to discuss the latest game update. However, note that updates will become less frequent as the company shifts its focus towards the future of the franchise.
That future includes the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake and multiple projects in development, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which is promised to be a darker, narrative-driven experience. Also, the team has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed codename Invictus and Assassin’s Creed Jade are both still in development. Learn more here.
