ash Officially Parts Ways with GamerLegion

British Counter-Strike coach, Ashley ‘ashhh’ Battye, has officially left GamerLegion after almost six years in the organization.

ash had spent three months on GamerLegion’s bench following a January announcement by the coach that he was seeking new opportunities, telling the HLTV confirmed podcast that it was “a good time for me to move on.”

The question now arises of where the highly-touted figure will ‘move on’ to, with online rumours pointing towards a potential Aurora international rebuild.

The organization made the following statement as part of the announcement, stating, “We want to take a moment to thank Ash, as we have recently parted ways, for everything he has given to our organization.

“From his strong dedication on the sidelines to the relationship he built with us, his time has truly left a lasting impression. We are deeply grateful for all the many years he has contributed to GamerLegion and wish him all the best on the next chapter of his journey!”

End of an era for ash and GamerLegion

The GamerLegion coach was instrumental in multiple rebuilds that saw GamerLegion consistently punch above their weight, most notably leading the team to the BLAST Paris 2023 Major Grand Final.

Following their Grand Final loss to Vitality, GamerLegion’s roster was picked apart by larger orgs, with Mihai ‘iM’ Ivan joining NAVI’s first international roster and Kamil ‘siuhy’ Szkaradek returning to MOUZ.

Despite losing their star rifler and IGL, GamerLegion managed to remain relatively competitive with Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski joining the org for his first stint, before leaving for G2.

GamerLegion once again began to rise in the rankings with Timur ‘FL4MUS’ Marev proving to be a hugely impactful rifler for the roster, before he again was sold, this time to Virtus.pro.

Despite the loss, GamerLegion’s ranking peak was yet to come as GamerLegion rebuilt around Sebastian ‘Tauson’ Lindelof, Oldřich ‘PR’ Nový, and Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner in the first half of 2025, delivering the team their ranking peak of number 8 in the VRS.

However, their progress slowed in the second half of the year, as the roster struggled with the AWP position, fielding three AWPers in 2025 alone.

The benching of Henrich ‘sl3nd’ Hevesi did not prove dividends, with Jeremy ‘Kursy’ Gast seemingly not ready for Tier 1. Milan ‘hypex’ Polowiec remains in GamerLegion, but started slow as he acclimated to Tier 1 CS.

Following GamerLegion’s exit at the StarLadder Budapest Major, ash announced that he was taking a break from competition due to burnout, remaining on the bench until his departure, with his once assistant Adrian ‘imd’ Pieper serving as coach.

ash leaves despite signing a contract extension in April of last year, implying that a deal was agreed between the two parties, or a buyout was triggered. In any case, we’ll bring you the news when it is announced.
