In a deep dive written to celebrate the impending deployment of Season Two, Ashika Island was explored in full. However, intent on keeping various elements of the map and the story behind it under wraps, much of the content in the deep dive was simply [REDACTED].
It’s a breakdown that’s littered with sleuth-speak, with all kinds of mysterious, suspicious activity apparently littering the island. From it being contained in an undisclosed location to it being the home of an ‘UItranationalist’ group, Ashika Island bears more than its fair share of secrets and malicious wrongdoings.
I mean, [REDACTED].
Ashika Island Is [REDACTED]
Okay, that’s the last one.
In the Ashika Island deep dive, it was revealed that elements of Shadow Company have taken control of the island. This is an iconic faction where Call of Duty: Warzone is concerned, and it was only a matter of time before they weaved their way back into the ongoing story.
It was confirmed that AI operators roam the small-ish island, which means players will have an extra threat to deal with. However, following the news that DMZ’s AI will be dramatically altered to be ‘easier’ to fight in general, it’s unlikely that Ashika Island’s AI will pose too complex a threat.
Despite being a Resurgence map, driven by respawn-focused game modes, there’s quite a lot of ground to cover across Ashika Island:
- Oganikku Farms – a sprawling agricultural centre with a beachfront.
- Town Centre – a dense, urban environment with a small port and several large buildings.
- Beach Club – an ocean-front location with an aquarium.
- Tsuki Castle – a multi-levelled location set in the dead centre of the map, complete with a stronghold, underground cave complex, and a submarine bay.
- Port Ashika – it’s a port. It’s surrounded by port-related things.
- Residential – another urban location packed with apartment buildings and storefronts.
- Shipwreck – this is a wrecked ship.
Here’s a short trailer that was published to showcase the island:
Not only will Ashika Island bring a new Resurgence mode to the dwindling battle royale platform, but it’ll also act as an infiltration point for DMZ when Season Two drops on the 15th of February. On February 8th, a more in-depth look at Season Two will be revealed by Activision and Infinity Ward – so stay tuned!
