Apex Legends is Expected to Decline Further Over The Next Few Months

Apex Legends is one of the most stalwart battle royale titles on the market, but it’s weathering a rough patch right now. In a recent financial update, Electronic Arts revealed that it’s anticipating a massive drop in net bookings for the shooter in FY 26, which presents a huge concern for the platform.

For a while, Apex Legends represented the pinnacle of live service battle royale titles, but it has suffered from a fall from grace in recent months that is leading to a cultural shift.

Not So Legendary

The Titanfall universe is in a weird spot at the moment. It was revealed a few days back that layoffs at Respawn and Electronic Arts went hand-in-hand with the cancellation of a new Titanfall title – an extraction shooter, if you can believe that.

Apex Legends is the only living game connected to the Titanfall universe, which has been sorely misrepresented in recent years. It has been almost a decade since Titanfall 2 was released, and players are hungry for more, but Respawn can’t or won’t deliver.

In a recent financial update, Electronic Arts confirmed that they anticipate a 40% year-over-year decline in net bookings for Apex Legends, which indicates plummeting expectations.

In the last year, Apex Legends faced a considerable decline, and things aren’t looking better going forward. The brand is facing intense pressure to deliver, and it’s more important for Apex Legends to recover as the company has put a lot of eggs in that basket over the years.

It was mentioned a while ago that Electronic Arts wanted to keep Apex Legends around for twenty years total. It’s not even halfway through that endeavour as I write this.

  • A rough patch right now?? It’s been in a rough patch for the last two years lmao. We logged in yesterday for the first time in a few seasons and holy crop the amount of predatory monetization they’ve added is disgusting. They literally have battle passes for purchasing store items. Insane. But yet on season launch there are game breaking bugs that crash the server if you use Sparrow’s ult on a mirage ult or loba ult.

    Crazy.

  • Well good for them, they don’t want to bring the game on console with M&K support. I cannot play shooter games on controller to safe my life, I can only play car games on controller. I wouldn’t have stopped playing Apex if I could play on the Xbox with M&K.

  • If they would stop focusing on overpriced crappy looking skins and fix audio bugs and the increasing cheating it would be doing a lot better. Instead they double down in recolors, keep coming out with $120 prestige skins, and audio is still jacked up. I can hear people fighting beyond the games draw distance every time but can’t hear enemies in the same building as me. Yet my teammates movement I can hear louder than anything … smh

  • Apex could easily be the best battle Royale in the market right now but with how much they’ve monetized items and become super money hungry I don’t see much hope. I love the movement, the legends, and so much more but they really need to do something ground breaking to bring this game back, along with console m & k

  • Bruh monetization has not killed the game, I don’t even think it’s a big factor. ALL of these BRs do it, doesn’t make it right, but it’s not exclusive to pex. I’d argue other games are even worse. People just love to dislike it.
