Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0 Goes Live Today

Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 3.0 is available now for some regions on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Nintendo is releasing the highly anticipated Animal Crossing Update 3.0 today across its platforms, adding tons of new free content to the game. Additionally, the update will provide an upgrade for the Switch 2 edition, including enhanced resolution, improved graphics, and more.

The free content update for the game is available now, it will take some time before the Switch 2 edition upgrade arrives. A new report by Eurogamer provides players with estimated release times for Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0 Switch 2 edition for various regions. Interested readers can check out the list below:

  • UK – Thursday 15th January at 1 am (GMT)
  • Europe – Thursday 15th January at 2 am (CET)
  • US West Coast – Wednesday 14th January at 5 pm (PT)
  • US Central – Wednesday 14th January at 7 pm (CT)
  • US East Coast – Wednesday 14th January at 8 pm (ET)
  • Japan – Thursday 15th January at 10 am (JST)
  • Australia – Thursday 15th January at Noon (AEDT)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0 brings a variety of upgrades that are meant for Nintendo’s new console. Firstly, players will observe improved graphics and resolution for the game. The upgrade will also feature Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which can be used to redecorate, create custom designs, and write messages on the bulletin board. A new item called Megaphone has been added, which incorporates the Switch 2’s Mic to call out Islanders with your voice. Lastly, online features have been expanded with the Switch 2 GameChat, which supports 12 players and lets players show their faces while playing.

Update 3.0 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons also brings tons of free content for Switch and Switch 2 players. Four additional villages have been introduced; however, you need to use an Amiibo to invite them. The biggest gameplay addition is the resort, which allows players to design rooms for guests. A Reset Service has been added to clear specific areas of the islands. Slumber Islands are available in a new dream world, and new collaborations will be introduced, too.
