The widow maker, dome splitter, it doesn’t matter what you like to call it, the Shotgun is a powerful weapon to take opponents at close range. There are very few things more satisfying than one-shotting your enemies with a Shotgun. Here are all of the launch Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Shotguns ranked from worst to best.
3. Haymaker
At a glance, the Haymaker doesn’t look like a traditional Shotgun due to the magazine which makes it look more like an SMG. But, that magazine is what sets it apart from others as it can be upgraded to a 20-round drum, allowing you to clear out rooms of enemies in an instant without reloading. If you’re a run-and-gun player that just wants to shoot things and ask questions later, this could be a good option, but for more traditional Shotguns there are better ones to choose from.

2. Riveter
The Riveter may not be designed to take down enemies in a single shot as it is an automatic weapon. But, its strength is in the range, allowing you to pick off targets at slightly further away than other Shotguns on this list. This makes it more forgiving than the other weapons on this list, so if you’re not the best at aiming and accuracy, the Riveter can be a great choice to give you some leeway.
1. Lockwood 680
The Lockwood unlocks at level 4, making it one of the first weapons you will be able to use when you start playing multiplayer. While it might seem a bit underwhelming, the key to making it into the best Shotgun in Modern Warfare 3 is in the attachments. With the right attachments, you can easily turn it into a one-shot killing machine. Pair this with an Assault Rifle and you are covered on all bases.
