Recently, Microsoft teased an incoming partnership of some kind between Xbox and Discord. In an all-new leak, that collaboration appears to have been revealed. It’s an all-new Xbox Game Pass tier called ‘Starter Edition’ that’s set to be bundled with Discord Nitro.
Per the claims, Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition will come with access to ‘over 50 games’ from the existing library, likely curated from an array of first- and third-party titles. An image that leaked alongside the first reports online showed titles like Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, Gears, and Hades, amongst others.
Xbox and Discord Collab Surfaces Online
Earlier today, a dataminer with the handle ‘redphx’ uncovered an official name for the rumored ‘Triton’ or ‘Duet’ Game Pass tiers. Last week, these codenames surfaced, with many assuming a partnership between a major platform provider was in the works, and the running theory was a collaboration between Xbox and Netflix.
But that user above revealed that Triton/Duet is named Starter Edition.
In a follow-up report from The Verge, more information was shared, this time provided by Discord Previews, another datamining profile that unearths and publishes upcoming Discord tidbits.
It was claimed that the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition will include up to ten hours a month of Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming and the ability to earn Xbox Rewards while playing on the service. The Xbox Rewards scheme is set to receive an upgrade soon, allowing users to spend earned points on the Xbox Store.
This tier, which is the fruit of a fresh crossover effort, will see Discord Nitro users acquire a minimal Xbox Game Pass subscription via the Nitro Rewards programme. If you’re a Discord Nitro subscriber, you’ll soon be able to bolt on the Game Pass tier for free.
