Another game has anti-cheat software being added, as Epic Games and Psyonix have announced that Easy Anti-Cheat is coming to Rocket League starting next week.
The announcement was made in a short and sweet social media post on Thursday morning.
“ATTENTION: Easy Anti-Cheat will be enabled for Rocket League starting on April 28th,” the post reads. “More details coming next week!”
If Easy Anti-Cheat sounds familiar, that’s because you’ve likely seen it in a number of games you already play. The software is already used in games like Sea of Thieves, Elden Ring, Squad, Fortnite, and more.
Fans Aren’t Happy
After the announcement that Easy Anti-Cheat was coming to Rocket League, fans immediately voiced their displeasure in the comments. For many, it was the fact that this could mean the end of popular mods that can add features to Rocket League like detailed statistics, sound effects, training tools, and more.
“Bots already got the bypass, but there goes bakkesmod. Yay!” RenierPPorter said.
Said another, “Was so obvious it would come after RLCS regionals… Now can you spend some time not just helping out the top 0.1% but instead fix the smurfing and toxicity that ruins the game for 99% of players?”
