Slay the Spire 2 Roadmap Prioritizes Healthy Workflow Over Dates

Slay the Spire 2 is trying to stay ahead of unkept promises by issuing a roadmap without firm delivery dates.

Slay the Spire 2 has had strong success since its debut in Steam Early Access in March 2025. It still sees a high player count with nearly 300,000 concurrent players in the last 24 hours at the time of this writing. Within one month, the game even sold 5 million copies.

Mega Crit’s Slay the Spire 2 Roadmap

Released as part of the April 2026 Newosletter from Mega Crit, the roadmap promises new content, including two alternate acts, a new character, and more cards. Some of the goals for the far future include “true victory.” These are mentioned alongside ongoing updates to quality-of-life features and bug fixes.

The full roadmap can be seen below:

Features and Systems:
– Steam Workshop support
– Support for more languages
– The Bestiary, a way to view and learn about the enemies in the game
– Experimental game modes

Ongoing Tasks:
– Fixings bugs
– Compatibility and performance improvements
– Game balance and tweaks
– Quality of life features
– Audio polish (more silly voices)
– Visual polish (less silly placeholder art)

Content (No spoilers, it’s for your own good!)
– Alternate Act 2
– New Character
– Alternate Act 3
– More cards, events, relics, and potions

Further off in the Future
– Ports to other consoles/platforms/mobile/etc
– Steam Achievements & Tradings Cards
– “True Victory” + Everything that comes with it

No Firm Release Dates for These Slay the Spire 2 Changes

Casey from Mega Crit also addressed the lack of release dates. In their statement, they discuss being a small development team and choosing to work at a healthy pace rather than overly promising a firm timeline.

“We evaluate our tasks each week and work on what feels most impactful. It’s not the most organized method, but this allows spontaneous experimentation like the dialogues you have with the Ancients or the existence of a Room Full of Cheese. We won’t massively expand the size of the studio to finish the game faster. Exacting deadlines produce sloppy uninspired work and I don’t want Sloppy Spire 2, I want Slay the Spire 2,” the statement reads.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor this game’s development and report any updates as more information becomes available.
