The director of Netflix’s Gears of War movie has stated that the draft is in great shape and thinks it’s going to happen in a new update.
For those unaware, a report last year stated that Fall Guy director David Leitch was in negotiations with Netflix to direct the upcoming Gears of War movie. It seems things have progressed much further since then, with the director almost certain that the movie will come to fruition.
“It’s All Lining Up That That Movie Will Happen,” Says Gears of War Movie Director in Latest Update
During a new interview with Collider at CinemaCon, David Leitch provided fans with a brand-new update on the Gears of War movie from Netflix. Leitch stated that he thinks it’s “going to happen”. The director added that they have a draft that is in “great shape”, the studio is more determined, and Netflix is “100% behind it it” Moreover, Coalition is “fired up” as well, and with Gears of War E-Day releasing this year, “it’s all lining up that that movie will happen.” Check out the full quote below:
“Gears of War, I think, is going to happen. We have a great draft that’s in progress that’s in really great shape. The studio’s more determined than ever to make it. Netflix is 100% behind it. The Coalition is fired up, as well. They have their game releasing this year, as well, and so it’s all lining up that that movie will happen.”
The report from last year stated that it would be a big-budget adaptation, with the movie remaining faithful to the Gears of War source material. Netflix acquired the rights to the film in 2022 and brought on Jon Spaihts, writer of Dune 1 & 2, Doctor Strange, and more, as one of the scriptwriters.
