Some unfortunate news has arrived for fans of The Witcher video games as Zoltan’s voice actor has passed away.
A new post on the official The Witcher account on X (formerly Twitter) reveals that Alexander Morton, the voice actor for Zoltan Chivay, has passed away. He portrayed the beloved character in both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The cause of his passing wasn’t revealed.
Zoltan’s Voice Actor Had Several Games Under His Belt Apart From The Witcher Series
The Zoltan voice actor, Alexander Morton, was 81 at the time of his passing and has lent his voice to various games beyond The Witcher. The first video game he worked on was Heavenly Sword, which was followed by Viking: Battle for Asgard, Age of Conan: Hyborian Series, Fable 2, Killzone 2, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita. Apart from that, he has worked on several TV movies and series.
Talking about Zoltan, he was a beloved character of the Witcher series and a friend of Geralt. He is also a veteran of the Second Nilfgard War and met Geralt when going towards the Yaruga River from Brokilon. Zoltan is also the man who provided Geralt with Sihil. The character hasn’t died in the games and is a key ally in the main books; therefore, it is unclear how CD Projekt Red will address this situation.
In other news, The Witcher 4 team has expanded to 499 developers at CD Projekt Red. Additionally, a new mod has arrived for The Witcher 3, which lets you get a glimpse of The Witcher 4 early.
