Teamfight Tactics Set 17 has arrived in the 17.1 patch, with Riot Games bringing new mechanics, artifacts, and cosmetics to the auto-battler.
As part of Space Gods, TFT’s traditional Carousel system has been replaced by a system called Realm of the Gods, where players will choose an offering from one of two gods before getting a secondary offering from Pengu.
TFT Set 17 mechanics explained
The Realm of the Gods:
Realm of the Gods replaces the Carousel system. Players are now presented with two gods to choose an offering from, followed by a secondary, less powerful offering from Pengu. Every god offering comes with a component attached.
But don’t worry, the Carousel’s catch-up mechanics still exist in Realm of the Gods as players with lower HP will receive higher-cost units from Pengu, along with component anvils instead of random components during PvE rounds.
At stage 4-7, the god a player has aligned with will deliver a Boon via an armory, and that god will continue dropping loot periodically for the rest of the game.
Loot system:
In the 17.1 patch, loot has been reduced to account for the God Blessing round. At Stage 3-7, players will now receive one less component.
Stage 4-7 has been replaced entirely by the God Blessing round, which grants one to three components.
Targeting and movement:
New to Space Gods, when a champion’s current target moves out of attack range, the unit will now search for another target within range before moving up to one hex to chase the original.
The change is intended to reduce player frustration caused by attack range limits.
Surrendering:
Surrendering no longer removes an opponent’s board. The combat will continue to play out even after the player has surrendered, but the surrendered player’s health is set to -99 HP, ensuring they remain below their opponents.
Keyword changes:
The following keywords have changed:
- Attack Speed slows have been renamed from “Chill” to “Slow”
- Enemy damage reduction has been renamed from “Dazzle” to “Weaken”
- “Spells can critically strike” has been replaced with the keyword “Precision”
- Precision: Ability damage can critically strike. Additional Precision grants 10% Damage Amp (this can stack with multiple sources of Precision)
Riot has also confirmed that Encounters will return in 17.2, but are not part of 17.1
TFT Set 17 items act as tankbusters
Riot has strongly targeted tanks by nerfing several items associated with ‘unkillable’ tank builds, aiming to create more balanced boards where multiple units benefit from items and buffs rather than an all-in tank build.
Riot shared the following item nerfs in its patch notes:
- Adaptive Helm Tank/Fighter Bonus Resists: 45 > 30
- Bramble Vest Bonus Health: 9% ⇒ 6%, Armor: 65 > 50
- Dragon’s Claw Bonus Health: 9% ⇒ 6%, Magic Resist: 75 > 60
- Gargoyle Stoneplate Base Resists: 30 > 25
- Evenshroud Temporary Resists: 25 > 15
- Nashor’s Tooth Ability Power: 18 > 15
- Rabadon’s Deathcap Ability Power: 50 > 55
- Spirit Visage Durability: 10% > 8%, Healing: 2.5% > 2%
- Sterak’s Gage Shield Amount: 50% max HP > 40% max HP, Attack Damage: 40% > 45%
- Steadfast Heart Durability: 10-18% > 5-15%
All Patch 17.1 Gods artifacts
Each god in Space Gods received a ‘signature artifact’ with associated abilities and build synergies. The Patch 17.1 Artifacts are:
Ahri’s Aura
- AP: 20%
- Mana per Second: 4
- The holder is orbited by 3 foxfires. Each one deals 50% (AP) magic damage and the orbit expands to hit the holder’s current target. For every 20 Mana the holder spends, foxfires travel 5% faster for the rest of combat.
Ekko’s Patience
- AD: 25
- AP: 25
- Total Ability damage is increased by 45%, but is dealt over 2 seconds instead.
Evelynn’s Instinct
- AS: 40%
- Omnivamp: 15%
- When switching targets, blink to the next target. Attacks and Abilities execute the holder’s target below 12% of their Health. Kills grant the holder 50% Attack Speed decaying over 3 seconds.
Kayle’s Exaltation
- AD: 25%
- AP: 25%
- AS: 15%
- After 18 seconds of combat, this and all completed items on the holder become Radiant.
Soraka’s Miracle
- Durability: 10%
- The first 2 times the holder drops below 50% Health, a Miracle occurs, healing them for 20% of their max Health.
- If the holder survives player combat, gain 1 player Health for each Miracle this combat.
Thresh’s Lantern
- HP: 400
- Armor: 25
- Magic Resist: 25
- After 6 seconds of combat, pull the leftmost benched unit onto the battlefield. While that unit lives, 20% of all damage the holder would take is redirected to them. Traits of champions flung onto the board do not become active.
Varus’s Obsession
- Damage Amp: 15%
- Combat Start: Your strongest Tank becomes the Soulmate. For each second they are alive, the holder gains 3% stacking Attack Damage and Ability Power. The Soulmate heals for 20% of damage the holder deals.
Yasuo’s Bladework
- Every 3.5 seconds, your next attack is a double attack.
- AD: 30%
- AS: 10%
