Patrick Söderlund was recently named the Executive Chairman of Nexon. He had been on the company’s board since 2019. Now, he is again discussing AI in gaming and touting how the company he leads will succeed where most companies fail in technology and gaming.
Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund Has a Vision for Winning the AI War
A new capital markets briefing from Nexon features extensive comments from Söderlund. In his comments, he explains, “AI may be a race, but the winners won’t be the first movers – the winners will be the ones who understood the challenge.”
He goes on to explain how AI helps Embark produce more efficiently. He claims they start every project with a blank slate and question what needs to be done by a human versus a machine to create the most efficient workflow.
“Yes, some of that involves AI. But it’s really about encouraging people to use smarter processes, better tools, and to let go of habits that no longer serve them,” he said. He went on to tell the creation of ARC Raiders with a smaller team and budget than a typical AAA game.
“Our success wasn’t an accident –it was deliberate. And now we’re bringing that thinking to the rest of Nexon.”
In a time when AI is very divisive, some creators continue to advocate for the new technology, while other outlets are panned for replacing creatives with machines. Learn more about what Patrick Söderlund thinks about AI here.
