Donald Glover Voicing Yoshi in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Several new cast members have been named for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, releasing on April 1.

On March 9, Nintendo aired the final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as part of a special Nintendo Direct celebrating Mario Day (MAR10 Day). The final trailer revealed more plot details and also shed light on a villain coming to the big screen who hasn’t officially been seen since the US release of Super Mario Bros. 2 in 1986: Wart.

After the end of the trailer, Chris Meledandri from Illumination announced that Wart would be voiced by Luis Guzmán. He also revealed that Issa Rae will be playing the unseen Honey Queen from the Super Mario Galaxy games. The final announcement was that Yoshi, revealed in a previous trailer, would be voiced by Donald Glover.

Nintendo Today App Integration With Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Shigeru Miyamoto also announced that fans will be able to check in to see the Super Mario Galaxy Movie in theaters by using the Nintendo Today app. There will also be new wallpapers and other tie-ins to get fans excited for the movie.

Beyond that, this is the main event of the Super Mario Bros 40th anniversary celebration. Nintendo is holding some other deals to celebrate Mario Day. Learn more information about those deals here.
