How To Clear The Fog Of War In Crimson Desert—Bells, Explained

A Fog of War is a feature of almost all open-world games, as it encourages you to explore and reveal more locations across an expanding map. Crimson Desert is no exception, and with such a huge map to uncover, you can imagine there’s a lot to discover.

However, Pearl Abyss has strayed away from waypoints bloating the map, as natural exploration is encouraged in Crimson Desert. That being said, you can still uncover more of the map, with towns, rivers and roads ready to be unearthed.

If you’re wondering how that’s achieved, then you’re in the right place, as Insider Gaming knows how to clear Crimson Desert’s Fog of War, and it’s time you did too.

In order to clear the Fog of War in Crimson Desert, you’ll need to ring bells scattered across the map.

Once a bell is rung, a Shai will be summoned, who will clear the surrounding fog and reveal obscured regions as far as the bell’s chime can be heard.

Of course, not everything will be revealed, and you’ll still need to go exploring on foot to discover new secrets, but the full map can still be incredibly useful. Towns, rivers, and map details are still relevant, and small question marks will guide you to points of interest worth checking out.

Now you know how to clear the Fog of War, all that remains is finding the bells, of which there are plenty…

Bells can be found at major landmarks spread across the continent of Pywel, though they’re mainly found in towns.

The first one you’ll find is in the starter town, Hernand. Near the North-West of the town lies a small bell tower, and at the top you’ll shockingly find a bell! Simply approach it, and you’ll be given the prompt to ring the bell, which will clear a sizable section of your map’s Fog of War.

Aside from the starting area, always search towns, villages and cities for bells. You should recognize them by the tall bell towers, so don’t be afraid to climb to the top and give them a ring—a bell symbol will even appear on your map when you’re close!
