Call of Duty has announced a new Black Ops Royale mode for Call of Duty: Warzone. The news came from the official Call of Duty blog, which outlined plans for the mode and set a debut for Thursday, March 12, at 9 PM PT, or Friday, March 13, at 12 AM ET on the East Coast.
This Blackout-inspired Battle Royale features no Loadouts, Gulag, or Buy Stations. Players will wingsuit in, scavenge, upgrade their weapons, master Cradle Breaches, and outlast 24 squads on Avalon.
100 players form 25 Quad teams and drop into Avalon, with a visible circle marking the shrinking perimeter. This boundary moves at the start of each match, ensuring the entire map is used across different games.
Avalon Is the Big Map in Call of Duty: Warzone
Avalon makes its Warzone debut as the newest large-scale battlefield. The map joins Verdansk, Rebirth Island, and Haven’s Hollow, offering a brighter, more vibrant environment free of Endgame’s red fog.
Avalon features tight city zones, layered interior fights, open routes for quick rotations, and long sightlines ideal for ranged play. It’s also noted that Treyarch has scaled back the map’s water, adding sand paths and new land bridges to connect areas and keep the Battle Royale gameplay smooth.
