PlayStation has finally provided players with a release date and new gameplay details for their upcoming 2D Fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
Back in the June 2025 State of Play, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from Arc System Works, PlayStation Studios, and Marvel Games was announced as a 4v4 tag-team brawler releasing in 2026. Since then, there have been a couple of closed betas, but the devs haven’t revealed any concrete information. Now, we finally have a release date and new gameplay information.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Will Feature a 20-Character Roster At Launch
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls releases on August 6, 2026, and pre-orders begin on February 19. The title features 20 iconic Marvel characters at launch, reimagined in an anime-inspired art style. The game also features dynamic stages based on popular locations in the Marvel Universe, along with some interactive stage transitions.
The game also provided details on post-launch content, including 4 characters and 1 stage. Preordering the title will grant players the Infinity Gauntlet Lobby Equipment, Baby Groot Lobby Pet, and Cosmic Surfboard Lobby Ride.
About Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
It is a 4v4 tag-team fighter in which players assemble teams of their favourite Marvel characters, featuring both heroes and villains. It focuses on fast-paced combat with unique move sets, combos, and strategies that players can explore. The game’s combat has been made immersive and intuitive, allowing players to try out their own unique moves as their skills grow.
In other news, Marvel Rivals Season 6.5 roadmap provides details on all the new events and costumes. Additionally, Marvel Cosmic Invasion’s latest update has added new palettes and gameplay fixes. So the teams are
Avengers – Captain America, Iron Man, possibly Kamala, and I assume Carol?
X-Men- Storm, Wolverine, Magik, and Danger
GOTG-Star Lord, probably Rocket, then the other 2 are up in the air Drax, Groot, Nova, or Gamora?
Midnight Sons-Ghost Rider Robbie, Blade probably or his daughter, other 2 are up in the air? Punisher, Moon Knight?
Strange they have team spots for Doom and Spider-Man so are teams sharing? 20 charactets at launch means 5 teams if just 4 members. I would have put Spider-Man with the Avengers otherwise.
Without that restriction Spider-Man could be any team his own with Spider characters, New Avengers, or FF/Fantastic 4. Doom it’s either villain team or Fantastic 4.
The designs still look ugly and generic very cheap looking now that they showed more. Magik, Doom, Wolverine, and Robbie Reyes all look good tho the rest not.
