The Best Video Games For Holiday 2025
Battlefield 6

EA and Battlefield Studios will be able to enjoy a nice glass of wine this Holiday season and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Battlefield 6 is a unanimous success, a very welcome return to form, and has climbed back to the top of the first-person shooter mountain with its engaging campaign and untouchable multiplayer action, and RedSec battle royale add-on.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Shadows takes players to Japan in a much-needed change of locale for Assassin’s Creed. You control either Naoe or Yasuke throughout the adventure, and get to explore an important period of Japanese history—the Sengoku period. It’s about what you’d expect from an Assassin’s Creed game, and that’s not a bad thing. A Holiday 2025 bargain awaits anyone who hasn’t picked it up yet.
EA FC 26

Very much in the annual release category is EA FC 26. Many opt to wait until EA’s newest release is on sale, and in a year where the developer is prioritizing player feedback more than ever, the game’s release was met quite well. The price always drops close to Christmas, though—with EA FC 26’s price dropping by as much as 50%—since launch, and it would make the perfect present.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 broke records with its The Game Awards 2025 nominations. It’s up for 12 awards, including Game of the Year, and it’s expected to win quite a lot of them. The turn-based RPG is a masterpiece in storytelling and infuses breathtaking combat and graphics. Quite simply: It’s a must-buy.
Split Fiction

Carrying on the GOTY conversation is Split Fiction. Hazelight Studios rose to prominence with A Way Out, and It Takes Two, and Split Fiction is another dose of dual-action, cohesive co-op delight. The good news is that you only need one copy for the two of you, thanks to the Friends Pass system.
The game is on offer close to Holiday 2025, making it even more of a bargain.
Black Ops 7

The presence of Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders was also going to make it a tough act for Black Ops 7 to show why CoD is king every year. But make no mistake that when end-of-year sales numbers are posted, as well as the game’s lifetime copies sold, it will be another revenue-spinning reality for Activision. It’s helped by the fact that Call of Duty games are always on offer close to Christmas, and Black Ops 7—offering a Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops, and Multiplayer—could be yours.
Cronos: The New Dawn

Insider Gaming’s Cronos: The New Dawn review went as far as saying it’s a spiritual successor to Dead Space. It’s a third-person action-adventure-horror game that has you fighting horrible, tentacle-sprouting monsters. The atmosphere is rife with tension, and its lengthy campaign offered great value for money at launch. Now, it’s a terrifying bargain.
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: Remastered

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have been aware that Bethesda capitalized on the worst-kept secret in gaming by dropping The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: Remastered. It’s the same game you loved in 2006, and it looks better. There’s no better time to play it for the first time or revisit a classic.
Donkey Kong Bananza

Not many thought Donkey Kong Bananza would arguably be the best Switch game released in 2025. It’s become the Switch 2’s best title—according to reviews—and is also in the GOTY conversation. If you’ve been looking for a classic 3D Mario game, the development team here also worked on Super Mario Odyssey. You can collect and inflict collateral damage on the environment. You’d be bananas not to pick it up for Holiday 2025.
Mario Kart World

On the other hand, Mario Kart World is seen as the Switch 2’s flagship title for now. Every new era of Mario Kart sells a disgusting amount of copies. Mario Kart World will probably have sold close to 10 million copies by the end of Holiday 2025, and the game offers big, fun features over its predecessor, including 24-player races, an open-world mode, a battle-royale-esque Knockout Mode, and more.
Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds is officially not constrained by regions or niche audiences anymore. It’s been the best-selling game for most of 2025, has Steam’s highest peak player count of 2025, and has been supported with updates and patches to improve the game since day one. In theory, Capcom doesn’t need to have the game on sale, but it’s happening anyway.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

It feels so long ago now that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 decided to grace us with its presence. The realistic and punishing RPG offers an experience few others are prepared to give you. With a third story DLC set to arrive next month, now’s the time to play Warhorse Games’ riveting and revolutionary hit.
