Concord is coming back, though not from PlayStation. The canceled 2024 multiplayer shooter was short-lived, but fans are rebuilding it on PC.
If you haven’t heard about Concord, here’s a quick rundown. The game, revealed during a 2023 State of Play, was the first title from then-first-party studio Firewalk Studios. Set in a futuristic world based on space operas like Star Wars, the hero-shooter received moderate praise by critics and fans. Yet, due to Sony’s overwhelming expectations for the game, Concord was shut down after only two weeks, with Firewalk Studios closing soon after. However, it seems fans of the game have been working to restore the game and, fortunately, got it back up and running.
A Playable Version of Concord Has Been Developed on PC
Posted on YouTube, we can see a video with actual working gameplay of Concord on PC. The project, developed by users Red, Real & Gwog. The group has been trying to get the game running again, and thanks to rebuilds and reverse engineering, they actually got custom servers going. While the build isn’t open for everyone (though those interested can go to their Discord) and is still a work-in-progress, it’s largely still intact.
No matter if you liked it or not, it’s cool to see Concord brought back to life in a way. While we’ll likely never see what Firewalk Studios had in store for the game, at least the base game can still be played. Regardless, it’s super impressive that a small group was able to get a PS5-exclusive game running on a PC with sheer dedication and good tech skills. It’ll be interesting to see how the playtests go and if Sony will say anything about it.
