This Week in Gaming: Major Battlefield 6 Updates, Ubisoft Delays, and More

It’s been a packed week in the gaming industry, and if you’re trying to catch up on the gaming news you may have missed, Insider Gaming’s got everything covered. Battlefield 6 led the way with major updates on new post-launch modes and fixes for REDSEC and weapon bloom coming next week. Ubisoft, meanwhile, caused confusion after halting share trading and delaying its earnings report just minutes before release, all while quietly working on a new multiplayer shooter behind the scenes.

Elsewhere, PlayStation signaled that the PlayStation 5 (PS5) is only halfway through its lifecycle, the United Football League (UFL) is exploring the potential of becoming an officially licensed football video game, and it was revealed that God of War developer Sony Santa Monica had a new IP canceled despite more than $25 million invested into the project.

9 New Game Modes Are in Development for Battlefield 6 Post-Launch

Insider Gaming has found that at least nine new game modes for Battlefield 6 are at various stages of development for Battlefield 6‘s post-launch content.

Last month, we revealed that six game modes were in development for Battlefield 6; since the release of the game’s first season, more have been added to the game’s files. Two of the gamemodes that we previously reported on, Sabotage and Strikepoint have already been confirmed to be coming to the game, which leaves Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout, and Tank Hunt remaining for the original six.

Weapon Bloom and REDSEC Issues Will Be Fixed Next Week

Battlefield Studios has announced in its latest community update that it will fix the game’s weapon bloom in Battlefield 6 and REDSEC next week.

The exact date for the changes will come on November 18th, which will also bring another multiplayer map, Eastwood, to Battlefield 6 multiplayer.

Ubisoft Delays Earnings Report, Halts Share Trading Minutes Before Release

Ubisoft is no longer delaying its games. Now it’s delaying earnings reports.

Just minutes before it was scheduled to release it was scheduled to announce its first half earnings for fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26), the company announced that it was postponing its call.

Epic Games Refutes Fortnite Gambling Accusations, Evidence Says Otherwise

Epic Games has denied that gambling mechanics are being added to Fortnite in user-created experiences, despite their own explanation confirming their addition.

Leaks first emerged to state that “gambling” was coming to UEFN, which was confirmed in the latest patch notes, but there appears to be some confusion about the clarification of “gambling” in the game.
