How to Unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Like many other titles in the franchise, Super Sonic can be unlocked in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds if you’re willing to put the work in for him.

He may not be flying around at the speed of sound, but even in a car, this Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds racer is a mighty force that players will like to have control of.

Here is how to unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

How to Get Super Sonic in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

To unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, you must defeat every rival in the game at least one time.

Essentially, this means you need to race through grand prix sets a minimum of 23 times. If you are going for every gold cup, you will easily meet this requirement before then, but it is quite a bit of racing. If your rival happens to finish third or lower and you get a higher placement without getting the gold cup, your counter will still go up. You only have to worry about beating that particular character for the purposes of unlocking Super Sonic, though it is quite rare for the rival to finish low in the standings.

As you beat more rivals in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, your rival screen will slowly check off the characters you have beaten. You can see how many times they’ve been beaten, and a checkmark near their name will show you don’t have to rival them again. The rival does not need to be at a certain level, so you can knock this out easily by setting them to level one if you want.

Once the final rival has been beaten, a screen will pop up letting you know you’ve done it, along with Super Sonic being unlocked exclusively for Grand Prix. We’ll get to why that is below. By this point, you have likely already gotten a credits sequence with Cubot and Orbot for getting gold trophies in all the grand prix, but now it seems you have extra-beaten the game because a new credit sequence begins, which looks at characters in the past and now, along with a new title screen and vocals to the menu music.

Why is Super Sonic Only in Grand Prix in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?

Super Sonic is exclusive to Grand Prix in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds because he is a cheat code character, essentially. He is invincible to everything.

Like in the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog games, Super Sonic is not phased at all by any item thrown his way. Nothing will affect him at all. Even course hazards don’t harm him; he just drives right through them. The only things that can slow you down are if you drive into a wall, fall into a pit (guess he doesn’t feel like flying out), or you press the brake.

At this point in the game, you have likely done just about everything you can in the single-player side of things, so Super Sonic is Sega’s way of saying, “Congratulations, here’s a broken character.” Of course, putting that into the multiplayer side of the game would be very unfun, but even just stripping away the invincibility and having him be a simple skin would be fun to show off.
