How to Get a 6-Card Pack in Pokémon TCG Pocket—Sixth Card in Pack, Explained

Pokémon TCG Pocket has gone wild and added the chance to get a sixth card in certain Pokémon TCG Pocket packs. A 6-card pack has already thrown off many pack openers, but this guide explains all you need to know about how to get a six-card pack, what you can get, and why they’re so different.

I’ll give Pokémon TCG Pocket all the credit in the world and say I still log in each day. Daily packs have turned out to be a stroke of brilliance, and the influx of new sets and features is keeping the free-to-play card-collector alive and well. I still get an Electabuzz from ripping open new packs, fully anticipating duplicates and a distinct lack of the ex cards I desperately need.

However, Creatures Inc. and DeNA know how to keep us coming back for more. Trading was a great addition, Ranked gave trainers a reason to get competitive, and now there’s the excitement of potentially getting a 6-Card Pack.

The only way to get a 6-Card Pack is by getting lucky when you open a Pokémon TCG Pocket booster pack.

Like the Bent Pack theory or Wonder Pick Trick, there’s no sneaky way to ensure a sixth card. It all boils down to RNG at the end of the day. You could get three six-card packs in a row, or you might have time to earn gym badges and conquer the Elite Four before one turns up!

In my first 40 or so Wisdom of Sea and Sky boosters, I had several 6-card packs. They’re not common by any means, but they’re nowhere near as obscure to find as some of Pokémon Pocket‘s ex cards and Rares.

You can get Magby, Smoochum, Tyrogue, Pichu, Elemid, and Cleffa baby Pokémon as your sixth card in these special packs.

Wisdom of Sea and Sky booster packs are the only booster packs to offer Baby Pokémon right now. Meaning, across Ho-Oh and Lugia boosters, there are six unique Baby cards to collect—and one Rare.

Here’s the official breakdown for the pack chances and what you can get.

A 6-Card Pack is a unique instance where you’ll get a bonus sixth card in addition to the conventional five cards feature in most packs.

The Wisdom of Sea and Sky will go down as the first booster packs to offer this. Like Shinies and other features, I expect this to become a regular occurrence in Pokémon TCG Pocket sets moving forward.

Have you been left puzzled by a 6-Card and also wondered if your game glitched like I did? Does this need to be part of the set schedule for future sets? Let me know through the Insider Gaming forum.
