McArthur ‘Cellium’ Jovel has revealed on social media that he’s a free agent going into the Black Ops 7 season. While this doesn’t absolutely guarantee he’s leaving Atlanta FaZe just yet, it puts him one step closer to departing the organization he has called home since the tail end of 2018.
For years, Cellium has been a stalwart staple of the Atlanta FaZe lineup, flanked by Simp and aBeZy, but following a rocky year, the organization is finally making some changes. This news comes hours after Drazah revealed he’s also an unrestricted free agent and open to offers from any team in the Call of Duty League.
End of an Era
Cellium has been affiliated with FaZe in some capacity since 2018, initially joining FaZe Clan, then FC Black, and finally Atlanta FaZe. This affiliation occurred when the Call of Duty World League underwent rebranding and became the Call of Duty League.
With the organization, he has won more than $1.7 million in prize money, secured a ring, and won the Esports World Cup, along with a stack of chips from various major tournaments over the last five years.
While Cellium announcing he’s a free agent doesn’t mean he’s 100% set to leave Atlanta FaZe, it is the closest he’s ever been to doing so. At this point, it means that he’s out of contract and isn’t being immediately retained by FaZe, but there’s always that chance that the team giving him a new contract is Atlanta.
It’s also worth stressing that Cell didn’t confirm if he’s an unrestricted or restricted free agent, which are two very different things.
Drazah is in the same position, but given the year he has had, many believe he’s already packing his bags, ready to jump into another roster. The three-man makeup of Cellium, aBeZy, and Simp has been in place since the start of the Call of Duty League, which is why Cellium’s imminent departure is so dramatic from a fan perspective.
