In a recent announcement, it was revealed that the World Series of Warzone’s Global Final will take place in the United States – we just don’t know where. Activision unveiled the setting for this year’s Global Final and provided a date of October 1st, which isn’t all that far away.
It has been a tricky qualification period for teams trying to break into the World Series of Warzone, as creators and pro players far and wide have reported cheaters plaguing their games at a competitive level. The Global Final is a LAN tournament with a massive $1 million prize pool, though.
The Road to the USA
In a post on the World Series of Warzone website, Activision revealed:
150 of the world’s best Call of Duty®: Warzone™ players will land in the United States for an action packed day of competition on October 1st. Thousands of competitors have been whittled down across months of intense competition to bring us the final 50 trios who will compete for the championship and their share of the $1M prize pool.
The tournament will adopt last year’s match-point format, given how successful it was. The only major change will be that players are dropping in on Verdansk this year, which is a blast from the past to be sure. Verdansk made a return earlier this year in Warzone after being stripped from the game in 2021, and it was a resurgence of sorts for the battle royale game.
On October 1, 150 players will embark on a journey to the United States to try and claim the lion’s share of the prize pool, which is a whopping $300,000. The teams that land in the top 25 slots on the leaderboard will walk away with some kind of prize.
The World Series of Warzone is the pinnacle of Call of Duty’s battle royale-focused esports space. It’s also going through a sketchy time right now as cheaters are making the game a misery to play. The final qualification stages, including the LCQs, are yet to take place – will the game remain stable enough to keep up the hype?
