Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers multiple weapon types to use, but I think the best Longsword build trumps everything else. It’s an extremely versatile weapon and synergizes excellently with many skills and offers the best abilities of any class.
The first few hours of my Wuchang: Fallen Feathers run were spent using Axes. However, the speedy nature of bosses, the weapon’s slower nature, and a lack of diverse elemental damage meant it didn’t cut it for me. I switched to the Longsword, and my world changed soon after.
The Longsword can cut through almost anyone who stands in your way. It also offers excellent defensive options that other weapons don’t.
Best Longsword Weapon to Use in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

My go-to weapon in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is the Flamebringer Longsword. Before I found it, the Moonlight Dragon was a staple part of my Wuchang setup.
As of writing, I unfortunately can’t remember how I came across the Flamebringer Longsword—there’s a lot of content to remember!
I know for sure the Moonlight Dragon is a Deluxe Edition bonus. To be honest, most of Wuchang‘s Longswords are viable, but the Flamebringer makes a good hybrid option for the rest of this best build.
Best Discipline For Longsword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

There is one main Longsword Discipline in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and that’s the Sword Counter.
Many attacks and projectiles can be parried in Wuchang. The only weapon I’ve found that can effectively deal with them is the Longsword and its Sword Counter ability. The ability is one of the first you can unlock through the Longsword-specific skill tree.
It doesn’t fully negate all damage, but a perfect deflect minimizes incoming damage, and can make enemies stumble—even bosses—to open them up for a few quick strikes.
Furthermore, if you have the Cloudfrost’s Edge Longsword unlocked, it can improve damage negation: “Successful parry blocks reduce the damage you take.”
If you’re up against a boss who has no weapons and few (if any) parry opportunities, Crescent Arc is a fantastic dodging maneuver allowing you to quickly leap backwards and avoid an incoming attack. Attack is the best form of defense, but I find Sword Counter and Crescent Arc are vital to quelling enemy threats first.
Best Benediction for Longsword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

If you’ve unlocked them, you can’t go wrong with Wei – Tri-Discplinary Force, Fa – Burning Ignition, and Fa – Combo Ignition for Benediction Socket bonuses.
Here’s a quick table showing you what they are and what they do.
| Socket | Benedicition Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Oath | Wei – Tri-Disciplinary Force | Increases damage dealt if 3 Discipline skills are known. |
| Memory | Fa – Burning Ignition | If a nearby enemy suffers Burn, your weapon gains increased Fire Attack Power for a time. |
| Wisdom | Fa – Combo Ignition | Consecutive attacks increase your weapon’s Fire Attack Power. |
This build relies a lot on dexterity-like elemental damage to quickly build up damage. Some bosses are weak to fire, whereas others are not so much. I can tell you for a fact it didn’t matter which bosses I came up against in Wuchang; this setup builds burn rapidly and punishes bosses by knocking off huge chunks of HP.
No joke, some boss fights where you can land a charged heavy attack behind to deliver an Obliterate attack allowed me to wipe out half of the health bar in seconds through a combination of everything in this build.
Benedictions require a lot of exploration and killing to find them. You must check every inch of the game and defeat every enemy you come across: Mobs, mini-bosses, and anything else.
Wei – Tri-Disciplinary Force requires 3 Disciplines to be unlocked, which you can do quite easily through the Impetus Repository. Extra damage always helps, hence this selection.
Again, fire is the name of the game, and Fa – Burning Ignition deals even more fire damage if an enemy suffers Burn. This makes the Flamebringer Longsword the ideal damage dealer.
Finally, Fa – Combo Ignition means the quicker you land strikes in a row, the more fire damage you deal. It’s very simple.
Best Longsword Spell in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Burning Flames was my go-to Spell for pretty much all of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
I’m underlining the point that a lot of this build is interchangeable with a different element—depending on if you have the right Temperance and elemental-dealing Longsword for the job. But to keep your enemies toasty in constant flaming infernos, Burning Flames is ideal.
Firstly, it only requires three Skyborn Might to use. This is better than other spells requiring upwards of four and five. Unlocking the Steel Resolve node gives you one stack of Skyborn Might for deflecting when you’re above 50% madness. This can quickly build up Skyborn Might, allowing you to use Burning Flames more and inflict burn fast.
Plus, you hop backwards when you use it, creating some breathing space after use.
Best Temper For Longsword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

The Bone Needle – Flame is a must-have part of your Temperance setup in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and depending on the other slots you have, Plumed Stone Needle – Temper and Root Stone Needle — Status are also helpful.
Bone Needle – Flame is the most important part of the Temperance puzzle. It allows you to imbue your weapon with fire, and doesn’t cost anything to do so.
Here’s a quick walkthrough of the process:
- Unlock the ability to Temper by defeating the game’s first main boss—Master Raider – man-eating Dhutanga.
- Go to your nearest Shrine.
- Select Temper.
- Assign Bone Needle – Flame to the Yangchi Acupoint (it’s likely the first one you have open).
- Go to your in-game menu.
- Head to Equipment.
- Scroll down to Items.
- Find an empty slot and press on it.
- Check your items until you find Temperance.
- Equip it to a slot.
- You can now use Temperance as an item during regular gameplay, and Bai will apply the relevant status effect to her weapon.
I advise you to unlock more Temperance Charges through the Impetus Respository—the left-most set of nodes is where you find them.
