Does Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Have Difficulty Settings? Is There an Easy Mode?

The phrases ‘Easy Mode’ and “Git Gud’ are synonymous with Souls games. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is another brute in the genre, and I have full answers and experience about whether Wuchang has difficulty settings or an easy mode of any kind.

It’s hard to argue that Soulslikes are as common as ever. The market is saturated with FromSoftware titles, Mortal Shell, Lies of P, Stellar Blade, and even Another Crab’s Treasure, bizarrely. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers comes from the mind of Leenzee, who is throwing its name into the hellacious and heinous hat.

It ticks a lot of the boxes: Respawning enemies, limited health uses per run, and lost currency. However, let’s see if Wuchang has difficulty settings to give you a cosier time.

Can You Change The Difficulty in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?

There are no difficulty settings in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which means you have to endure the game’s default difficulty setting, and there is no easy mode to give you a trouble-free ride.

If you’re struggling in Wuchang, I’m afraid the only way for things to get easier is for you to improve Bai and make her stronger and better. You need to keep entering new dreams, mop up mobs, and level up your stats as much as you can.

Also, make sure you explore every area of every location. Finding Remembrances, for example, will give you more heals per life. By the halfway stage of the game, I unlocked the ability to have seven heals—giving me a lot more leeway and opportunity to inevitably fail against bosses.

You should also prioritize using weapons like Longswords and pair them up with the right Temperance and Magic to deal big damage as well. While you can’t drastically alter the difficulty, you can artificially tweak your playthrough to even the odds somewhat.

But to be clear, you will die a lot. I shudder to think what my final death toll added up to.

Will an Easy Mode be Added to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?

All Leenzee has said about Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is that you should use different gear and experiment to make things easier, but other Souls games suggest we might get an easy mode after launch.

Lies of P’s Overture DLC introduced difficulty settings. This makes a massive difference to the game and allows players to make it through more of Krat than they did previously. Even though Stellar Blade is in a weird limbo state between a Souls game and a traditional action-adventure title, it has difficulty settings.

The First Berserker: Khazan is one of the hardest Souls games I’ve ever played…and it has difficulty settings.

Unmovable fans will tell you no Souls game should have difficulty settings—and I agree, to an extent. I’d budge on this, though, if it means greater inclusivity, helps a game sell better, and gives it more chance of a sequel. The developer hasn’t shied away from its Dark Souls inspiration.

However, I feel difficulty settings will arrive later as part of a free update, or in potential DLC. If they do, we’ll update you.
