We’re getting ready to suit up and go scuba diving again. Subnautica 2 is ready to swim away from its survival competition, but if you want to do it on PS5, you’ve come to the right place for information.
Subnautica 2’s development has been drowned in controversy. First, Krafton laid off key Unknown Worlds Entertainment members, then early access was delayed, causing players to start a movement to boycott the game, and then former Subnautica 2 leadership said it would sue Krafton.
Despite all of this, interest in the sequel remains strong. So much so that Subnautica 2 PS5 questions continue to float around us.
Is Subnautica 2 Releasing on PS5?

Subnautica 2 is not releasing into early access on PS5, and so far, there isn’t an official PS5 port lined up for the game at any point.
The first phase of Subnautica 2’s underwater journey is through early access. The first game benefited massively from the strategy as the team was able to cultivate a large following of players and consistently improve the survival title.
Will Subnautica 2 Get a PS5 Release?
We’ve not seen or heard anything official from Unknown Worlds Entertainment or Krafton, but history suggests a PS5 port is likely to happen once the full game debuts.
The original Subnautica went through an extensive early access period. A full 1.0 launch eventually arrived, officially bringing Subnautica to PC on Jan. 23, 2018. The community received PS4 and Xbox One ports just before the end of the year to open up the player pool.
But now for the crucial part: Subnautica received a PS5 port on May 14, 2021.
This happened alongside Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions. I may as well complete the set and tell you the first game also came out on iOS and Android in 2025—because why not at that point!
The logical assumption to take away form this is Subnautica is coming to PS5. We don’t know when, and it’ll be a long time before it happens. Subnautica 2’s delay to 2026 means there’s a long road ahead of it before PS5 players can contemplate dipping their toes into infested waters.
The Subnautica 2 conversation has taken a turn for the worse in recent times. Krafton confirmed a leaked Subnautica 2 dev document, and even believes previous Subnautica 2 leadership “Abandoned” their responsibilities. What do you think about the whole situation?
