7 Best Grow A Garden Pets & How to Get Them

Grow A Garden may be all about growing fruit and crops, but pets add another element to the game, and some are considerably better than others, so we’ve selected our favorites.

Available through a variety of Pet Eggs, hatching odds for each Pet vary, with some being extremely rare, so it can take many attempts to hatch the desired pet—although it’s certainly worth the grind.

If you’re unsure on which pets you should be trying to get your hands on, check out our list of the very best available in Grow A Garden.

Best Grow A Garden Pets

Before we start, it’s worth noting that we’ve created the list from Pets that are still obtainable in the game, so the likes of the Panda and Polar Bear are omitted.

T. Rex

Introduced in the Prehistoric update, the T. Rex is the rarest dinosaur that can hatch from a Dinosaur Egg with just a 0.5% chance of hatching. Unsurprisingly, given its rarity, the T. Rex is one of the best pets available in Grow A Garden due to its Apex Predator ability, which is great for having more mutated fruits.

The T. Rex ability has the pet randomly eat a Mutation from a fruit in your garden, then roaring to apply the same Mutation to up to three other fruits. If you want it to avoid a particular fruit, you can favorite it, but this is a great way to stack multiple Mutations on many different crops.

Scarlet Macaw

The Scarlet Macaw is one of only two ways to get the rare Verdant Mutation, the other being a Solar Flare admin event, making this bird a must-have for anyone seeking maximum profits. Obtainable from a Paradise Egg with an 8% chance of hatching, it might take a lot of eggs to hatch, but it’s certainly worthwhile.

Given Paradise Eggs only make rare appearances in the shop, it’s worth joining a Discord with stock notifiers to be informed when they are available.

Dragonfly

The rarest pet that can hatch from a Bug Egg, with just a 1% chance of being obtained, the Dragonfly is one of the best pets in Grow A Garden as its ability means it will add a guaranteed Mutation to every fruit every five minutes. While the Mutation applied is only Gold, the 20x multipler is a good starting point—and it’s even better when paired with the likes of a T. Rex or Mimic Octopus.

There’s a reason Dragonfly is the most requested pet in trades, so if you can get your hands on one, hold on tight.

Giant Ant

For anyone looking to maximize their harvesting haul, the Giant Ant is a game-changer as there is a 10% chance it will duplicate a fruit upon harvesting, including copying all of its Mutations. While the odds are lower for rarer fruits, it’s a great way to stack up your inventory to cash in.

With a 25% chance of hatching from a Bug Egg, there’s decent odds you’ll be able to add this critter to your collection of pets.

Fennec Fox

Only available in the limited-time Premium Oasis Egg, the Fennec Fox is essentially a better version of the popular Red Fox, and it’s ability works similarly to the T. Rex. Every 22 minutes, the Fennec Fox goes to another player’s garden and copies a random Mutation, then applying it to a random fruit in your garden.

Given it’s only obtainable through an egg purchased via Robux, with just a 0.5% chance of hatching, the Fennec Fox stands as one of the rarest pets in Grow A Garden.

Mimic Octopus

The strength of the Mimic Octopus largely depends on the quality of the other pets in your garden, but when paired with the right squad, it stands clear as by far the best pet in the game. Every 20 minutes, the Mimic Octopus copies the ability of another Pet in your garden and performs it.

With just a 1% chance of hatching from a Paradise Egg, expect a lengthy grind to be able to add it to your collection. It’s worth the wait, though, especially when paired with other pets on this list.

Bear Bee

With a five per cent chance of hatching from a Bee Egg, the Bear Bee benefits from a strong ability and an excellent appearance. Similar to other bees, it applies Mutations to fruit, but it’s the only one that can apply the Honey Glazed Mutation to a fruit—a Mutation that can only be applied by the Bear Bee, or from a Honey Sprinkler purchased from a Travelling Merchant.

This effect applies every 20 minutes, which can be reduced by three seconds for each level the pet has.
