Nintendo Switch Online Prices Increasing up to 20% in Canada

Canadian residents will have to start forking out more for certain Nintendo Switch consoles and Nintendo Switch Online due to new price increases, which see certain memberships increasing by 20%.

It was only a handful of days ago that we learned about Canada increasing Switch prices. Thankfully, this doesn’t apply to the Nintendo Switch 2, but if you’ve yet to claim a Switch in Canada, you need to pay more. Anyone looking to acquire Nintendo Switch Online will be further out of pocket after the NSO price increases were revealed.

The Nintendo Switch Online price increases for Canada weren’t revealed initially. The Canadian store has since been updated, and a Reddit thread from 26lcooper has perfectly summarized the new adjustments.

Here’s a quickfire look at the old and new prices.

Nintendo Switch Online

  • Individual Membership
    • 1 Month — $4.99 -> $5.99
    • 3 Months — $9.99 -> $11.99
    • 12 Months — $24.99 -> $29.99
  • Family Membership
    • 12 Months — $44.99 -> $49.99

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

  • Individual Membership
    • 12 Months — $63.99 -> $69.99
  • Family Membership
    • 12 Months — $99.99 -> $109.99

As you can see, certain tiers—such as the 12 Months Individual Membership—are facing up to 20% increases.

Whereas the 12-Month Family Membership has gone from being on the precipice of crossing $100 to fully going over.

What do you think of the changes? Is this another step in the wrong direction for consumers and gaming in general? Will this affect Nintendo sales in Canada? Let us know through the Insider Gaming forum.

Whatever happens, Nintendo is enjoying a fruitful period right now. You only have to look at Nintendo revealing the Switch 2 has already sold 5 Million Units in its first month, doubling the Switch 1.
