Google and YouTube are set to make a major change to who can live streaming on their platform moving forward. Google has announced, that as of July 22, 2025, anyone wishing to livestream must be at least 16 years or older.
In addition to needing to be 16 or older, any live stream featuring children ages 13-15 need to have an adult visibly on screen with them. Should they not, live chat could be disable and the account could “temporarily lose access to live chat or other features.”
“Please note that, in the future, we plan to take down these live streams and the account may temporarily lose its ability to live stream,” Google adds.
Google has not given a specific reason for this change to streaming age limits. As of publishing, there are no other changes coming to YouTube’s live streaming requirements. This change also doesn’t appear to impact any channels that don’t live stream, and just post standard pre-recorded videos.
